Cambodia met us with a cheerful smile, and like in Alice’s wonderland, it kept hanging in the air, even when the faces disappeared from our view. As we waited to cross the Thai-Cambodian border, an energetic young man appeared in front of us and proudly announced he was “the first Cambodian people” we met....
